This theme of impending judgement is certainly an element missing from much gospel proclamation that I have heard these days – even in my own preaching, I have to admit. It was certainly not missing from the proclamation of Tony Antony at the recent event organised by Christian Men Together for Scotland. A heaven to gain and a hell to shun seems to have been a mark of gospel preaching from a byegone era which needs redressing.
Allan McKinnon is a member of Greenview Evangelical Church, Glasgow. He served as a missionary in Tanzania for more than 15 years ('95-'10). His areas of ministry have included preaching and teaching the Bible, local church leadership, training and discipling and translation work helping provide good Christian resources to the Swahili speaking church.
